A protective cover for an IPT 50 connector. It goes over an unmated connector to keep it clean and to stop anyone touching the contacts.
An unmated high current connector is a problem in two directions. Dirt, moisture and swarf get into the contacts and stay there, so the joint is compromised before it is ever made. And if the connector is live, the contacts are reachable.
A cover solves both, and costs almost nothing. It is the sort of part that gets left off a build and then matters: a connector left open on a bench for a week, or a service disconnect pulled and set down on a workshop floor, is a connector that needs cleaning before it goes back.
