Forged stumps that let a Porsche 108 mm drive shaft joint bolt straight to a Tesla drive unit output. We designed these and have them made to our own drawing, and they are supplied as a pair with circlips, which is what one drive unit needs.
A Tesla drive unit is built to drive short driveshafts into its own hubs, so in a converted vehicle there is nothing sensible to bolt a driveshaft to. The 108 mm joint is the answer for a great many builds because it is one of the most common CV joints in the world: Porsche 930, 964 and 993 use it, as do a wide range of Volkswagen and other German vehicles, so shafts, boots and joints are available anywhere. Each stump replaces the Tesla output stub and presents the 108 mm flange the original joint already bolts to, which keeps the driveshafts as off the shelf parts rather than a bespoke order.

Features
- Uses the 108 mm joint found on Porsche 930, 964 and 993 and across the VW range, so driveshafts and service parts stay easy to source
- Forged rather than machined from bar, which is what you want in a part that sees shock loading through a driveline
- Sold as a pair with circlips, so one order fits one drive unit with nothing missing
- Made to our own dimensioned drawing, which is published in the Documents tab so you can check clearances before you buy
- Held in stock here rather than made to order
Compatibility
Fits the Tesla large drive unit and the small rear drive unit. It does not fit a Model 3 drive unit: for that, use the Defender stumps with the appropriate drive shaft seal.
The drive unit has to come apart to fit these, so it is worth renewing the output shaft seals in the same strip, and dealing with a limited slip differential or a reduction gearset while the casing is open rather than opening it twice.
If your build uses Land Rover Defender joints instead, we make the equivalent Defender stumps, also sold as a pair.
In the box
- 2 x Tesla to Porsche 108 drive shaft stump
- 2 x stub axle circlips
Bolts are not included, because the fitment reuses the original joint bolts.
