Terminals are the part of a connector that gets used up. A crimp made slightly wrong, a cable cut short, a harness reworked, or a contact damaged by a mis-mating all end the same way: the housing is fine and the terminal is not. Being able to buy the contact on its own means remaking one joint instead of replacing a connector.
They are also what you need if you are building a harness to length. Connectors supplied with terminals give you exactly as many as the connector has ways, and no spares for the crimp that does not come out right.
Male contacts go into female housings. That reads backwards until you think about it: the housing gender describes the connector as a whole, and the contacts inside a female housing are the pins that enter the other half's sockets. These are those contacts. The female contact, for male housings, is the opposite part.

Crimp them with the correct die. A high voltage contact carries current through the crimp interface, and a joint that is merely mechanical will heat inside a sealed connector where you cannot see it. If you are not sure which die your crimper needs, ask us.
