Jaguar I-Pace Battery Disconnector Rotary Switch

The rotary battery disconnector switch from a Jaguar I-Pace pack. The manual isolator built into the battery, used to break the high voltage circuit by hand before anyone works on it.

Every high voltage pack needs a point where a person can isolate it themselves and see that it is isolated. On the I-Pace that job is done by this rotary switch, mounted on the pack. Turning it breaks the circuit mechanically, which is a different kind of assurance from a contactor commanded open by software.

For anyone building with I-Pace modules, or repairing an I-Pace pack, this is the original part rather than a substitute.

Isolation is not the same as safe. Opening a disconnector separates the pack, but capacitance downstream can hold a charge. Follow a proper isolation and proving procedure before touching anything.
