A 3 kW PTC cabin heater element for a low voltage pack, running on 120 to 180 V DC. It replaces the heater matrix in the original heater box, so the car keeps its own vents, blower and controls.
Take the engine out and the cabin heat goes with it. There is no longer hot coolant to push through the matrix, and a conversion needs a heat source of its own. This is the element that provides it, sized to the airflow a car heater box already has.
PTC means it regulates itself. The element's resistance climbs as it heats, so it draws a lot of power when cold and progressively less as it comes up to temperature. It cannot run away, and it cannot glow red if the blower stops, because the physics limits it rather than a controller. That is why a PTC element is the right choice for a cabin heater and why it needs no thermostatic control loop of its own.
The inrush is why you need a 50 A contactor for what settles to a much smaller load. Size the switching for the cold draw, not for the steady state.
Check it fits before you commit. This replaces the stock matrix but does not bolt into its place, so custom mounting is needed. The dimensioned drawing is in the Documents tab. Measure your matrix housing first.

Compatibility
For packs whose voltage sits inside 120 to 180 V DC. If your pack runs at 350 V or above you need the high voltage version instead, which is the same idea rated for 348 to 540 V.
Check the pack voltage at both ends of its range, not just nominal. A pack that sags below 120 V under load or rises above 180 V on charge is outside this element's range.
Switch it with a contactor, not a relay. The cold inrush is what sizes the switching, hence the 50 A recommendation.
