6007/C3 SKF Open Deep Groove Ball Bearing 35mm inside x 62mm outside x 14mm wide

An SKF 6007/C3 open deep groove ball bearing, 35 mm bore. A standard bearing in a standard size, with C3 internal clearance.

The C3 in the part number is the part that matters. It specifies a greater internal clearance than a standard bearing, and it is what you fit where the bearing will get hot or where there is an interference fit on the shaft or in the housing. Both close the clearance up in service: heat expands the inner race faster than the outer, and a press fit squeezes the races directly. A standard clearance bearing in either situation ends up preloaded, runs hot, and fails early. C3 leaves room for that.

Open means no seals or shields, so it relies on the housing to retain lubricant and exclude dirt. That suits a bearing running in an oil bath or a sealed gearbox, which is where most bearings in a drive unit live.

Compatibility

Do not substitute standard clearance for C3. If the original was C3 there was a reason, and a standard bearing in its place will run preloaded and fail early.

Fit it properly. Press on the race that is an interference fit, never through the balls. Driving a bearing on by its outer race to fit an inner race interference is how a new bearing is destroyed before it turns.
