Axalta RAL 9005 deep jet black polyester powder coat, 70 percent gloss. A 20 kilogram box of powder for coating battery enclosures, brackets and chassis parts.
Powder coating is the right finish for a battery enclosure. It goes on thicker than wet paint in a single pass, it cures into a hard film that resists stone chips and handling damage, and it covers edges and corners properly rather than thinning where the part bends. On an enclosure that will be bolted, unbolted and worked around for years, that matters more than appearance.
It is also an insulating layer, and that has consequences both ways. A coated enclosure is not an earth path, so any bonding point has to be masked before coating or the coating removed afterwards. People discover this at the point of trying to earth something to a beautifully finished box.
RAL 9005 is the standard deep black, so a part coated now matches one coated in three years. At 70 percent gloss it is a satin rather than a mirror, which is far more forgiving of the surface underneath and of fingerprints in service.

Compatibility

You need the equipment. Powder coating requires an electrostatic gun and an oven large enough to cure the part at temperature. This is a material for a workshop already set up for it, not a substitute for spray paint.
Mask your earth points and any machined faces before coating. Removing cured powder from a face that needed to stay bare is considerably harder than masking it beforehand.
