A hall effect rotary position sensor with a 90 degree measurement sweep. It reports shaft angle without anything touching.
Non contact is the whole reason to use one. A potentiometer measures angle by dragging a wiper across a resistive track, and that track wears. On something operated thousands of times, such as a throttle pedal or a selector, a worn track produces a dead spot or a jump at exactly the position that gets used most. A hall sensor reads a magnet's field through a gap, so nothing rubs and nothing wears out.
90 degrees rather than 180 gives better resolution over a short travel. If the thing being measured only moves through a quarter turn, a 90 degree sensor spreads its whole output across that movement instead of using half of a wider range. On a pedal, that is the difference between a usable signal and a coarse one.
Confirm the output before you design it in. Rotary hall sensors come with analogue, PWM or digital outputs, and with different supply voltages and output ranges. We have no datasheet published here, so ask us for the output type, the supply voltage and the transfer characteristic, because a controller expecting a 0 to 5 V analogue signal will do nothing with a PWM one.

Compatibility
For throttle pedals, direction selectors and any rotary measurement over roughly a quarter turn. The 180 degree version suits longer travels.
A single sensor is a single point of failure. On anything safety related, particularly a throttle, production practice is two independent sensors read by a controller that compares them, so a failure is detectable rather than being accepted as a genuine demand.
