A screw in pressure relief vent for a sealed battery enclosure. It breathes continuously to equalise pressure as the pack heats and cools, keeps water and dust out while it does so, and bursts open if the pressure inside ever rises sharply.
Any sealed box that holds cells needs one. A pack warms up in use and cools overnight, and without a vent that swing either pumps air past your seals until they leak, or leaves the lid bowed. The membrane here passes air both ways while blocking water, so the box stays at atmospheric pressure without ever being open to the weather.
The second job is the one that matters on a bad day. If a cell vents, the pressure inside a sealed enclosure rises far faster than a breathing membrane can cope with. At between 20 and 40 kPa the membrane is driven onto an internal thimble and bursts, opening the vent completely and releasing the pressure in an instant. That turns a potential enclosure rupture into a blown vent, which is a part you replace rather than a box you replace.
This is the small valve. Size the number you fit by enclosure volume, roughly one per 100 litres.

Features
- Breathes both ways continuously, so seals are not pumped every time the pack heats and cools
- Bursts between 20 and 40 kPa, turning a cell vent into a blown valve rather than a split enclosure
- IP67 while breathing, and holds back over a metre of water head
- Rated to 125 °C, so it survives being mounted on a box that gets hot
- Screws in through a single 5.2 mm hole and tightens with one nut
Compatibility
For any sealed battery enclosure, and equally for a controller or junction box that needs to breathe. Fit roughly one valve per 100 litres of enclosure volume, and mount on a vertical face where water will not sit against it.
Where a larger enclosure needs more flow from a single point, the standard size valve covers the same job with a bigger membrane.
In the box
- 1 x vent valve with its O ring and nut

The manufacturer's specification in the Documents tab carries the full pressure against airflow curve, which is worth a look if you are sizing vents for a large box. A STEP model is published alongside it, and the 3D model on this page is the same part.
