A CANalyst-II USB to CAN analyser with two independent channels, for monitoring, analysing and debugging CAN networks from a laptop.
Almost every diagnostic job on a conversion starts with seeing the bus. The BMS, the inverter, the charger and the vehicle controller all talk over CAN, and until you can watch that traffic you are guessing at what any of them is doing.
Two channels is the reason to pick a dual interface. A conversion usually has more than one bus, typically an internal pack bus and a vehicle bus, and the interesting faults happen where the two meet. With one channel you watch one side and infer the other. With two you see both at once, timestamped together, which is how you find out which side actually stopped talking first.
Automatic baud rate detection saves the most common wasted hour. Connecting at the wrong bit rate looks exactly like a dead bus, and people chase wiring faults that are not there. This finds the rate for you.
Key specifications
| Part | CANalyst-II |
|---|---|

Features
- Two independent channels, so a pack bus and a vehicle bus can be watched together
- Automatic baud rate detection, which removes the most common false diagnosis
- DBC file support, so raw frames are decoded into named signals
- Real time monitoring, logging and analysis
- Works with the standard ZLG tool chain and OPC server software
Compatibility
For automotive diagnostics, EV conversion work, industrial control and embedded development.
Check the software your equipment expects. This works with the ZLG tool chain. If you are configuring an Orion BMS, that software expects a Peak compatible interface, so the Peak dongle is the right tool for that particular job. Many people end up with both.
Terminate the bus properly. A CAN segment needs 120 ohms at each end. An analyser dropped onto an unterminated or double terminated bus reports errors that are the wiring's fault, not the equipment's.
