LLDPE coolant tube, 8 mm outside diameter and 6 mm inside, in natural translucent. Sold by the metre.

The small bore plumbing in a conversion, the runs that feed a heater core, a header tank or a degas line, does not need reinforced rubber hose. It needs something that holds pressure, takes coolant chemistry and tolerates heat, in a size that fits push fit fittings.

Translucent is deliberate and useful. You can see coolant moving, see air locks that would otherwise be invisible, and see contamination early. On a system you are commissioning for the first time, being able to watch flow through the tube rather than infer it is worth a great deal.

The 8 mm outside diameter is what fittings are sized on. Push fit connectors, elbows and tees for pneumatic and fluid work are specified by OD, so 8 mm OD tube goes straight into standard 8 mm fittings.

Features

  • Translucent, so flow, air locks and contamination are visible
  • 8 mm OD, which suits standard push fit fittings without adapters
  • Flexible enough to route by hand without heat forming
  • Resistant to coolant chemistry

Compatibility

For small bore coolant and fluid runs: heater circuits, degas and header tank lines, sensor tappings and any low pressure run needing 8 mm push fit.

This is small bore tube, not a main coolant hose. A 6 mm bore will not carry pump flow for a battery or motor loop. Those want proper coolant hose in a much larger size.

Cut it square. A push fit fitting seals on the outside of the tube, so a ragged or angled cut leaks. Use a tube cutter rather than snips.
