HV Connector Double (A) 90° Male

The male half of a two way high voltage connector for 70 mm2 cable, with a 90 degree body, an integrated interlock and terminals included. Rated 1000 V and 300 A continuous, sealed to IP67, and keyed as an A so it can only ever mate with an A female.

A high voltage connector is doing more than joining two cables. It is the point where a pack can be safely separated, so it carries a high voltage interlock loop: a small signal circuit that breaks before the power pins do, telling the BMS or vehicle controller to open the contactors before anything live is exposed. It is also the part that stops the wrong two cables being joined, which is what the A and B keying is for. A pack with two circuits uses one key for each, and no amount of determination will plug an A into a B. The 90 degree body matters for a different reason: in most installations the cable has to turn as soon as it leaves the connector, and a straight body would force a bend radius the cable cannot take.

Compatibility

This is the male half. It mates with the Double (A) Female 70 mm2 and nothing else. If your pack has a second high voltage circuit, run it on the B keyed pair so the two can never be swapped.

Sized for 70 mm2 shielded HV cable. The terminals are crimped, so a hydraulic crimper is the right tool, and the joint wants adhesive lined heat shrink behind the connector.

For smaller conductors we stock the same style of connector in 4 to 6 mm2, 16 mm2, 35 mm2 and 50 mm2, and single way versions in 70 mm2 where only one pole is needed.
