The cable side half of a two pole 35 mm² high voltage connector, A keyed, with a 90 degree exit and an open crimp termination. Terminals supplied.

Open crimp is the whole point of this variant. A closed barrel terminal has to be threaded onto the conductor before anything else happens, which means the cable has to be free at one end and the terminal has to go on in the right order. An open crimp wraps around the conductor from the side, so it can be made off on a cable that is already routed, already terminated at the far end, or already through a gland.

That matters when you are repairing a loom in a built car, or when the cable run has to be threaded through the chassis before either end can be finished. It is the difference between remaking one connector and pulling a whole cable out.

The trade is that the crimp is less forgiving. An open crimp has to be formed with the right tool and the right die, and a poor one is easier to make and harder to see than a poor closed barrel. If you are building on the bench with free cable ends, the standard closed version is the easier part to get right.

It carries a high voltage interlock, with the interlock contacts shorter than the power contacts so they break first and the contactors are already open before the high voltage pins part.

Features

  • Open crimp, so it can be made off on cable that is already routed or already terminated at the far end
  • 90 degree exit for tight runs
  • Integrated high voltage interlock that breaks before the power contacts
  • A keying physically blocks mating with a B keyed half
  • IP67 sealed once mated
  • Terminals included

Compatibility

Mates with EVH4-C2ZJ-HA. This is an EVH4 series connector and does not mate with the EVH1A series, so do not pair it with an EVH1A half.

You need the correct open crimp tool and die. Without them the termination will look finished and will not be. Ask us if you are not sure which tool your terminals need.

If your cable ends are free, consider the standard version instead. The closed barrel variant is easier to crimp reliably and is the better choice for bench building.

In the box

  • 1 x 90 degree open crimp cable plug, A keyed
  • Open crimp terminals to suit 35 mm²
