A 12 volt forward, neutral and reverse rocker switch with three fixed positions. A simple way to select direction in a conversion.
An electric drivetrain needs the driver to choose a direction, and a three position switch is the most direct way to do it. This one is non momentary, so it stays where it is put rather than springing back, which is what a direction selector has to do.
It gives no feedback, and you should design around that. The switch does not signal which position it is in, electrically or mechanically, including neutral. The driver can see the rocker, but the vehicle cannot. If you want the car to know and show what is selected, you need separate indication driven from your controller, which is what our D N R indicator set is for.
That also has a safety implication worth thinking through. With no feedback, nothing stops the car being switched into reverse while moving forwards, other than logic in your controller. Most controllers ignore a direction change above a speed threshold. Confirm yours does before relying on the switch alone.

Compatibility
For 12 V conversions and custom EV projects whose controller takes discrete forward and reverse inputs.
No neutral feedback. The switch cannot tell the vehicle it is in neutral, so any interlock that depends on knowing the car is in neutral has to come from elsewhere.
If you want a finished, driver facing selector with position indication built in, our gear selector knob with R, N and D and an LED is the alternative.
