Fasteners in a high voltage build are not generic hardware. A bolt through a busbar carries current. A bolt into an enclosure holds a seal. A bolt into a mount takes drive torque. In each case the wrong material, the wrong head or the wrong length is a fault that only shows up later, and usually somewhere awkward to reach.

A flanged button head does two jobs at once. The low domed head sits close to the surface with nothing sharp to catch on, and the integral flange spreads the load like a built in washer, so there is no separate washer to fit, lose or forget. On thin panel or soft material that flange is what stops the head pulling through.

M3 at 30 mm is unusually long for the diameter. That is useful for stacking through several layers, but a long thin screw is easy to over torque and snap. M3 stainless takes very little force, so tighten it by feel rather than by habit.

Compatibility

Check the length against your stack before ordering. A bolt that bottoms out in a blind hole feels tight while clamping nothing, and one that is too short engages too few threads to hold. Count the thickness of everything the bolt passes through, plus the depth it needs in the thread.
