The Hyper Drive SME ACX1 motor controller and inverter, matched to the NetGain Hyper 9 motor platform.
The controller is what turns a motor into a drivetrain. A permanent magnet motor cannot turn at all without something reading rotor position and energising the windings in sequence, and how well that is done determines efficiency, smoothness, how the car behaves off the throttle and what happens under regenerative braking. The motor produces the torque; the controller decides all of it.
Matched to the Hyper 9 is the reason to buy this one. Motor and controller have to agree on voltage, current, the resolver interface and the control strategy, and a controller that works with one motor does not automatically work well with another. SME and NetGain specify these together, so the calibration work is already done.
It is a controller, not a kit. You will need the motor, a pack, a contactor, a precharge circuit, a throttle and cooling. The SME controller coolant plate is how it is cooled, and it needs to be: an inverter's limit is heat rather than current, and an uncooled controller throttles back on temperature exactly when you are asking most of it.

Compatibility
For the NetGain Hyper 9 motor platform.
Check the controller against your pack voltage. The SME range covers more than one voltage class, and the controller and the pack have to suit each other. Tell us your target pack voltage and we will confirm which controller is right before you order.
It needs a contactor and a precharge circuit. Closing a main contactor directly onto a controller's DC link welds the contactor. That is not optional equipment.
If you want the motor and controller together, the Hyper 9 kit supplies both matched with accessories.
