Tesla LDU OEM Open Diff (Used)

The original open differential from a Tesla large drive unit, removed from a working unit. These come out of Model S and X drive units when we fit an uprated limited slip differential, so they are used parts in serviceable condition rather than failed ones.

There are two reasons people want one. The first is repair: a drive unit with a damaged diff can be put back into service for a fraction of the cost of a replacement unit. The second is that an open diff is sometimes simply the right choice, on a build where the extra traction of a limited slip differential is not worth the noise, the cost or the extra driveline shock.

These are genuine Tesla parts, not a pattern copy. They fit the large drive unit exactly as they left the factory, because that is where they came from.

Compatibility

For the Tesla large drive unit as fitted to the rear of the Model S and Model X. It is not for the small drive unit or for the Model 3 unit.

This is a used part. It has done mileage in a car. We take these out of drive units that were working when they came apart, but they are sold as used components for professional fitting, and fitting a differential means opening a drive unit. If you have not done that before, it is not the job to learn on.
