A solenoid locking pin for a Type 2 charging port. It drives a pin into the plug's latch so the cable cannot be removed while the car is charging.
Locking the cable is not about theft of the cable. It is about what happens if someone pulls a connector out mid charge. A Type 2 connection at full current should not be broken under load, and the charging standard expects the vehicle to hold the cable until the session has been ended properly. A car that lets anyone unplug it at any moment is not behaving the way the charger assumes.
It reports its own state, which is what makes it usable. Two of the four wires drive the pin from 12 V and ground. The other two are a feedback contact confirming the pin is actually engaged, so your charge controller can refuse to start until the lock has confirmed rather than assuming it worked.

Features
- Holds the charging cable in place for the duration of a session
- Position feedback, so the controller knows the lock actually engaged
- Simple 12 V and ground drive
- Generic fit to Type 2 ports
Compatibility
For Type 2 charging inlets. It is a generic part, so check it against your own inlet before ordering.
We list a second locking pin with an electric servo actuator. Both do the same job with the same four wire interface; they differ in the actuator and in size, so choose on what fits your inlet housing and ask us if you are unsure which suits yours.
Use the feedback contact. Wiring only the drive pair gives you a lock that might have engaged. Wiring the feedback as well gives you one that tells you.
Think about the unlock case. A locking pin that cannot be released if the 12 V system is flat leaves a cable trapped in the car. Make sure there is a way out.
In the box
- 1 x charge port locking pin
