A locking pin motor for a charging port. It drives a pin into the plug's latch so the cable cannot be removed while the car is charging.
Locking the cable is not about theft of the cable. It is about what happens if someone pulls a connector out mid charge. A charge connection at full current should not be broken under load, and the charging standard expects the vehicle to hold the cable until the session has been ended properly.
Read this before choosing between our locking pins. This one does not support active feedback. Two of its wires drive the pin from 12 V and ground, and while there are two further wires, the pin's engaged state is not reported back in a way a controller can act on. Our other two locking pins do provide that feedback.
That distinction matters more than the price difference. Without feedback your charge controller has to assume the lock engaged. With it, the controller can refuse to start a session until the lock has confirmed, which is what you want if the lock ever fails to engage.

|---|---|
| Type | Charge port locking pin motor |
| Drive | 12 V and ground |
| Position feedback | Not supported |
| Weight | 0.5 kg |
Features
- Holds the charging cable in place for the duration of a session
- Simple 12 V and ground drive
- Generic fit to charging ports
- The lower cost option where feedback is not required
Compatibility
For charging port locking, as a generic part. Check it against your own inlet before ordering.
If you want position feedback, our solenoid locking pin and our electric servo locking pin both provide it. Choose this one only where your charge controller does not need confirmation.
Think about the unlock case. A locking pin that cannot be released if the 12 V system is flat leaves a cable trapped in the car. Make sure there is a way out.
In the box
- 1 x charge port locking pin motor
