A NACS charge port for the vehicle side, to SAE J3400, supplied with its cabling already attached rather than as a bare connector.

NACS is the connector Tesla used and which SAE has since standardised as J3400. It is now the charging standard across North America, which makes it the right inlet for a conversion built there or shipped there. A car with a CCS inlet in North America is increasingly a car looking for the wrong sort of charger.

It is a single connector that does both AC and DC. That is the practical advantage over CCS: no separate DC pins bolted under the AC ones, so the inlet is smaller and the panel cut out is easier to find room for on a car that was never designed to have one.

It comes with the cabling attached. What you see is what ships: the port and its tail, not a connector you then have to terminate yourself.

StandardSAE J3400, NACS
SuppliedWith cabling attached
MarketNorth America
Weight2.7 kg

Features

  • The North American charging standard, so the car meets the network it will actually use
  • One connector for both AC and DC charging, so only one inlet to package
  • Smaller inlet and panel cut out than a CCS combo
  • Supplied pre cabled, not as a bare connector

Compatibility

For conversions built for or exported to North America. For UK and European cars the Type 2 inlet is the equivalent part.

The inlet does not charge anything on its own. The charger, the communication handling and the protection are all separate, and the pilot signalling has to be read by something that decides what current to draw.

Ask us before you design around it. There is no datasheet published for this port, so if you need the pinout, the cut out dimensions or the conductor sizes in the tail, contact us and we will supply them.

In the box

  • 1 x NACS charge port with cabling attached
