7/16-20 UNF x 1.1/2 inch Imperial Full Thread Hexagon Bolts (ANSI B18.6.3) - Marine Stainless Steel (A4)

A 7/16-20 UNF full thread stud, one and a half inches long, in A4 stainless steel.

7/16-20 UNF is an imperial fine thread, which is what you meet on American and older British hardware rather than on anything metric. It is not interchangeable with anything metric, and it is not interchangeable with 7/16 UNC either: the pitch is different and forcing one into the other destroys both threads.

A full thread stud is threaded end to end, so it can be screwed to any depth and clamped with a nut at whatever length the joint needs, rather than being fixed by a head. That suits a joint that has to be built up in layers, or one where a bolt head would be inaccessible once assembled.

A4 stainless is the marine grade, a step up from A2 in corrosion resistance. It is the one to use where salt is involved, which on a vehicle means anything underneath it.

Compatibility

For 7/16-20 UNF threads only. Check what you have before ordering: UNF and UNC in the same nominal size look alike and will not interchange, and neither will mate with a metric thread.

A4 stainless is corrosion resistant, not high tensile. Do not substitute it where a high tensile fastener is specified, particularly on anything carrying suspension or drivetrain load.

Use anti seize on stainless into stainless. Stainless threads gall against each other under load, and a galled stud has to be cut out.
