An IWISS SN-2546B ratcheting crimp tool for MC4 solar connectors, covering 2.5, 4 and 6 mm² conductors.
MC4 contacts have their own crimp profile, and a general purpose crimper will not produce it. The contact is a barrel that has to be compressed to a specific form so it seats correctly in the connector housing and makes a gas tight joint with the conductor. Squash it into the wrong shape and it either will not click into the housing, or it goes in and makes a resistive joint inside a sealed connector that sits outdoors for twenty years.
The ratchet is the feature. It will not release until the crimp has been taken to full compression, so every contact comes out the same regardless of who squeezed the handles.
MC4 is the solar standard, and it appears in EV work wherever DC strings are wired: home storage, off grid installations, and solar charging on a conversion.

Compatibility
For MC4 connectors on 2.5, 4 and 6 mm² conductors.
It is specific to MC4. For small signal terminals use a fine ratcheting crimper, and for battery cable lugs from 4 to 70 mm² use a hydraulic crimper with hex dies. Neither job is this tool's.
Check the contact seats after crimping. An MC4 contact should click positively into the housing and not pull back out. If it does not, the crimp form is wrong and the joint should be remade rather than forced.
