A Weicon No. 5 automatic wire stripping tool, for flexible and solid conductors from 0.2 to 6.0 mm², which is AWG 24 to 10. It sets itself to the conductor.
The point of an automatic stripper is that it does not need adjusting between wire sizes. A scanning mechanism grips the insulation, senses the conductor underneath and cuts to it, so a loom with half a dozen different gauges in it gets stripped without stopping to change a setting or find the right notch. On a harness with hundreds of terminations, that is most of the time saved.
It is also the tool least likely to nick a strand. Adjusted manual strippers cut to a preset depth whether or not it matches the wire; a nicked conductor is invisible under a crimp and becomes the strand that eventually breaks from vibration. A tool that senses the conductor rather than assuming it does not make that mistake.
The adjustable length stop sets strip length between 5 and 12 mm, so every terminal in a batch gets the same length of bare conductor, which is what makes crimps consistent.

Features
- Adjusts itself to the conductor, so no setting changes between wire sizes
- Far less likely to nick a strand than a preset manual stripper
- Adjustable length stop, so every strip in a batch is the same
- Integrated side cutter up to 2.0 mm
- Exchangeable Solingen steel blades, so the tool is serviceable
Compatibility
For conductors from 0.2 to 6.0 mm², which covers signal wiring, 12 V circuits and auxiliary runs.
It is not for high voltage cable. Shielded 16 mm² and above needs a different approach, because the screen has to be stripped back separately to a defined length and an automatic stripper will not do that.
Set the length stop to the terminal, not by eye. Consistent strip length is what makes a batch of crimps consistent, and the stop is the feature that delivers it.
