A fuse box is where a conversion's 12 volt system becomes maintainable. Individual inline fuses scattered through a loom are fine until something blows, at which point nobody can find it. Grouping the circuits into one box means the fuses are in a known place, labelled, and reachable without dismantling anything.

Waterproof matters because of where these end up. A conversion rarely has room for a fuse box inside the cabin, so it goes in an engine bay, a wheel arch or under a floor, and an unsealed box in any of those places fills with water and corrodes its terminals within a winter. A sealed lid is what keeps the connections dry.

Four ways is a sensible size for a subsystem, not a whole vehicle: the cooling circuit, the charging auxiliaries, or the accessories. Several small boxes near their loads often beats one large one with long runs back to it.

Compatibility

For 12 V and 24 V vehicle circuits. This is a low voltage fuse box and must never be used for anything at pack potential, which needs a proper HV fuse rated for DC.

Fuse to protect the cable, not the load. A fuse exists so that a fault cannot set the wiring on fire. Size it to the cable it protects, and size the cable to the load.
