A sealed cable gland that terminates 70 mm² shielded high voltage cable into a Tesla large drive unit. It carries the cable through the drive unit housing, seals it, and bonds the screen, so the joint is as good as the one Tesla made.
Two are needed per drive unit, one for the positive and one for the negative, and they are sold individually.
This is what lets you make your own high voltage cables to length. A drive unit bought on its own usually arrives without them, and where the original cables do exist they are the length Tesla needed, not the length your car needs. The alternative is splicing into the OEM cable, which puts a joint in the highest current path in the vehicle for no good reason. With a gland on each end you run new cable at whatever length the installation wants and terminate it properly.
The two cables are not prepared the same. The terminals inside the drive unit sit at different distances, so the positive and negative are cut and stripped differently. The install drawing in the Documents tab gives both, and the figures are worth following exactly because a cable cut short cannot be rescued.

Features
- Lets a drive unit be wired with cable cut to length, instead of splicing into the original Tesla cables
- Seals the entry and bonds the cable screen, so the shielding is continuous into the drive unit housing
- Takes standard 70 mm² shielded cable and a standard 70 mm² lug, both of which we stock
- Published install drawing giving the exact cut and strip lengths for both the positive and the negative
Compatibility
For the Tesla large drive unit. Pair each gland with 70 mm² shielded high voltage cable and a 70 mm² copper lug.
Order two per drive unit. If you are cutting your own cable, read the preparation table above before you cut: the positive is nearly 40 mm shorter than the negative from the lug eye to the gland.
In the box
- 1 x cable gland, assembled with its insert, cap, O ring and spring
The cable and the lug are not included, and you will need two glands for a drive unit.
