This gives a reduced gear reduction that when multiplied by the stock differential in your EV conversion will provide a similar overall gear reduction to a stock drive unit. For example this can allow the mounting of a large drive unit in a 4 wheel-drive vehicle in the same place as where the transfer case was located.
