The panel mounting half of a two pole 70 mm² high voltage connector, A keyed, with a built in interlock loop. It bolts into the wall of a battery enclosure and takes flat lugs on the inside, so the high voltage joint is made inside the box and only the mating face is exposed.

This is the receptacle. The plug pushes into it and locks there. Two things decide whether it is the right part, and both cause returns.

It carries a high voltage interlock. Alongside the two power contacts is a small signal loop that is only complete while the connector is home. Wire that loop into your BMS or contactor control and the pack knows the instant someone begins to separate the joint. The interlock contacts are shorter than the power contacts by design, so they break first and the contactors are already open before the high voltage pins part. That is the difference between unplugging a connector and breaking a live circuit under load.

A keyed parts mate only with A keyed parts. The housing carries a moulded keyway that physically blocks a B keyed half. Where two similar high voltage runs sit near each other, opposite keys make it impossible to cross connect them during a rebuild, which is exactly what the keying is for.

Features

  • Interlock loop that opens before the power contacts, so the pack can drop its contactors before high voltage is exposed
  • A keying, which physically prevents the connector being plugged into the wrong circuit
  • Flat lug rear termination, so the high voltage joint is made and inspected inside the enclosure
  • IP67 sealed, so the box stays sealed at the point the cable passes through it
  • A STEP model is published, so clearance can be checked in CAD before anything is ordered

Compatibility

Mates with the A keyed 90 degree male, the cable side half. It will not mate with a B keyed part, by design, and a B keyed receptacle is available where a second circuit must not be confusable with this one.

Built for 70 mm² shielded high voltage cable. At 300 A continuous this is a main pack or drive connection, not an auxiliary one.

In the box

  • 1 x panel mount receptacle

The mating plug, the cable and the mounting hardware are not included.

A STEP model is in the Documents tab above, for checking the panel cutout and the depth needed inside the enclosure. The 3D model on this page is the same geometry.
